Geography Today 1 is the first in a series of six Secondary School Geography textbooks. It was designed to meet the requirements of the New Curriculum and stimulates an interest in the environment. The book uses, among others, the concentric teaching approach with learning beginning in the school locally then widening to Zimbabwe and SADC countries, Africa and the world. This approach uses fieldwork, thematic examples and case studies in helping the students to acquire a range of relevant geographical concepts and skills. The book aims to give students knowledge and understanding of the geographical background suitable for further education, while meeting the needs of students who may leave school. Maps are used widely throughout the book and are designed for easy references by students and teachers. Illustrations include lively and relevant photographs, labelled diagrams and line drawings. Exercise/Activities at the end of every chapter include thought-provoking questions, discussion and projects. Source-based and multiple choice questions in the new examination format are also included.
